Some questions that you may be asking. How do I get started?I offer an initial consultation of up to an hour and twenty minutes. This time provides an opportunity to say something about what brings you to therapy and to get a feel for what it will be like as well as completing the initial contact requirements. It is important when starting therapy to find the right therapist for you and this may mean seeing a few therapists before deciding who to enter into therapy with. Sometimes it will just feel right from the beginning. For this reason I always ask at the end of the initial consultation how you feel it has gone and if you would like to make another appointment. I will not be offended if you say no. All therapists work in a unique way, even when they work from the same theory model, and so you need to find the right one for you. What happens after the initial contact? If you decide to work with me then you will need to commit to at least weekly therapy. We will decide at the beginning if you want to start time limited or open ended therapy or if it is better to just see how it goes. For time limited work we will decide the term; for open ended we will work until it feels right to end. Either way when starting therapy we will carry out a review around week six to explore how you feel it is going and if you still wish to continue. How long is each session? Each weekly session is fifty minutes How much does it cost? I charge: £30 - £40 per hour for individual therapy. £40 - £50 per hour for couples therapy. £40 per hour and a half for supervision. It may be possible to offer a lower price for people on a low income. There will be an opportunity to talk about this in the first session. If you cancel a session with less than 24 hours notice I may charge the full session fee. I may also charge the full fee for any non-attendence when no notice has been given. |
